| What is involved in buying a house? |
You want to buy a house? You're tired of paying rent and you need a tax deduction, you're getting married, having a baby, getting divorced--whatever your reasons, you have saved for a down payment and you want to buy a house.
The first step is to find out how much house you can afford. If you are working with a REALTOR, he or she can help you with that. If not, make an appointment with a lender to be ""pre-qualified."" Next, find a REALTOR you like and trust and define what you need and want in a house. Then you will begin looking in earnest. When you find THE house, you will make an offer to purchase. Once a contract is finalized, you will get any inspections you require, select your lender and make loan application, and purchase homeowner's insurance. On the specified closing date you will appear at the lender's office and sign thousands of papers--including a rather large check. You have become a homeowner--ready to move into your dream home.
