| How do I choose a real estate agent? |
How do you select a real estate agent? With so many to choose from, it shouldn't be difficult to find one to help you in the purchase of your home. However, if you end up working with someone you don't like, a happy experience can become a hassle.
Ask friends and co-workers for recommendations. Attend open houses--this allows you to talk with several agents. Look for agents with letters after their names--GRI and CRS. These stand for ""Graduate of the REALTOR's Institute"" and ""Certified Residential Specialist."" These show that the agents have made a large commitment to improving their skills by taking the advanced coursework to earn these designations. And when you find one you are comfortable with, stick with that agent. Once your agent knows what you want, he or she can alert you when a new property comes on the market and can save you a lot of time by eliminating homes which will not suit your needs.
