| Choosing a home inspector |
When should you use a home inspector? When you are thinking of selling your home, a professional inspection--before you put it on the market--can save time, money and frustration. Our homes are places of refuge, and we have an emotional attachment to them. We don't look at them with the critical eyes of an inspector--or of a buyer. A professional inspection can point out things you need to do to put your home in top condition before you put it on the market--so you can get top dollar for it when you sell.
When you are considering buying a house, a professional inspection can point out current problems and recommend ways to avoid future problems.
When hiring an inspector, ask how long he has been in business. Is he experienced in residential construction? Ask for names and phone numbers of previous clients. Look in the Yellow Pages under Home Inspections Services--or call me for a list of names.
