| Building Your Dream Home, Phase I |
As fall comes and we are all spending more time indoors, many of you will begin to look more critically at your current home and decide to finally build your dream house. Now is the time to sit down with your favorite mortgage lender and determine just how much house you can afford.
The design and construction of a new home involves many phases. Phase One includes deciding what to built and where. This is when you determine what you want in a home, and when it is very valuable to spend time with your architect or designer discussing your requirements--size, rooms, function, uses, etc. This is also the time when you decide between what you want, what you need, and what you can spend. Site selection is critical during this phase so your home can be designed to fit the land. Don't start with solutions in mind, but be prepared to explore new and creative ideas and be very frank about the end results you desire.
